Q: Who inspires you the most inside and outside the music community?
A: At this very moment, I draw inspiration from Nipsey Hussle and his approach towards the music industry. Especially the fact of how practical he is. His model and his behavior really inspired me to grow my company and scale-up in 2019.

Q: What is something you would tell yourself 10 years ago?

Q: What do you like most about performing?
A: I love the feeling of butterflies in my stomach before I step on stage. I get a complete rush when I look around and see my band, all rocking in unison, eyes closed and zoned out while creating one sound, one vibe. But nothing compares to when I am able to connect with someone in the audience. When the music or the words connect with a person and I lock eyes with them and without saying a word, their eyes say it all... they get it.

Q: When did you know that music would be a big part of your life?
A: Music was always a big part of my life. I was enrolled in the Harlem School of Arts since I was six years old. This is where I learned how to play the violin, viola, and many percussion instruments.

Q: What is one thing that you struggle with, with your career?
A: I struggle with balancing the work I do and promoting my artwork. As an artist, it is of course important to get a body of work completed in a timely manner. Promoting myself, finding venues and events to participate in, is more feasible.

Q: Where did your inspiration come from for your song Talk Facts?
A: With Talk Facts, I really wanted to make a feel-good song for people. I wanted an anthem that everyone could sing along to. I turn to music to get me through all my emotions whether those emotions are pleasant or not. I wanted this to be the song you put on when you want to be hyped up when you wanna talk your shit.

My name is Sherren Olivia. I am a singer-songwriter from Chicago, IL. I love music and have been singing since I was a child. I began singing in church at a young age and continued to sing throughout my life in choirs. In college, I was introduced to recording and songwriting where I started to work with other musicians. I released my first two songs in 2015 on Soundcloud. I remember hoping that song would get to 500 plays and never imagined that something I wrote in my dorm room would reach over 100,000 people.
My first album "Oasis" was released this past February 2022. My journey has just begun and I am very excited to continue growing as an artist and make more music. I want to encourage anyone who loves to make music and create art to never stop creating. Create things that you like and do not try to create for others.
