Get to know Li Scott (a.k.a El Eye)
Q: When did you know that you wanted to work in the entertainment industry?
A: I knew I wanted to be in the entertainment industry by the age of 3 years old
Q: If you had to pick one main career out of the many that you do, what would it be and why?
A: I would choose all of my talents .. I could never separate them because they all bring together what makes me...me. Entertainment isn’t just about being able to do one thing .. it’s being able to capture the attention with whatever attracts the people watching, listening, engaging and interpreting your craft. I sing, write, dance, and act. Therefore I couldn’t pick between what I love the most. I’m just beyond grateful to be able to be multifaceted.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from with your music?
A: The inspiration in my music comes from a variety of experiences that have taken place in my life. Writing and singing allow me to get things off my chest. It’s like therapy - self therapy.
Q: If you could work with anybody in the industry who would it be and why?
A: If I could work with anyone - it would be Janet Jackson, Timberland, and Missy Elliot. Their sound has always been ahead of the times! so different , so bold, and so IN YOUR FACE with it.. it’s something about that unapologetic sound that I can’t resist.
Q: If you could work with any brand what brand would you work with and why?
A: If I could work with any brand it would be Apple. I’d love to work with Apple because they were built off someone who had a dream - and went for it! Something that has foundation that strong is a force to be reckoned with!
Q: What is something you would tell yourself 10 years ago?
A: Something I would tell myself 10 years ago today would be, “WAIT FOR NO ONE! Don’t worry about the time, it’s going to pass anyway. Just do your absolute best, never give up, and the results will show.”
Q: What do you like to do during your free time?
A: In my free time I like to learn new things to amplify my craft. Recently I started to practice teaching myself the acoustic guitar.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the work you do?
A: My favorite thing about the work that I do is the satisfaction I get as I grow in my craft and the thrill I feel when I perform for others. I only have to answer to myself in the end. What I do, makes me so happy - even the stressful moments are my favorite part of the process as well.. I learn from myself everyday. What is better than being able to understand yourself.
Q: What is your least favorite thing about the work you do?
A:My least favorite thing about what I do- is BS you have to put up with sometimes, that’s true about a lot of professions. So you have to really LOVE this. But that is life in general.
Q: What is something you would like to tell the public and your followers about a project that you are working on?
A: The project that I’m working on now - is so different sonically from anyone that is out right now. With thanks to my good friend and super producer Stony Boy Curtis (aka SlyTheGentleman) we created zones were I could give a blend of my angelic melodies, captivating rap tones to properly display the variety of flows I can give. I wanted to show my growing followers, and my fans that I am able to hit all spectrums of this thing we call MUSIC. #TheStormIsComing
