Model Agency Owner and Fashion Visionary: Jay Vinci

Q: What does “entrepreneur” mean to you?

A: Entrepreneurship is tricky, if you are not ready to risk it all then you have no business trying to test the field. It means you need to be resilient, patient, practical, and have an extreme amount of fortitude. It is going to get super lonely and it will truly help you reveal and marginalized fake friends and family. Just being comfortable with the word no and understand that whatever product or talent you wish to sell make sure you are prepared because doesn’t carry income it’s not the audience or buyer it’s YOUR TALENT OR PRODUCT (CONTENT).

Q: How did you feel the first time you got published? What was the experience like?

A: The first time I got published made me feel like I am where I need to be, and also told myself, “this needs to happen more often” overall it gave me reassurance that my life goal and plans are aligning together

Q: Where does your inspiration stem from?

A: My inspiration stems from a list of things, but I would say my inspiration truly comes from the vision of two great friends of mine, Diane Francillon and Harold Garcia. Diane altered my view on the art of fashion and the body of work that needs to be put in behind it. Harold Garcia made my vision come to life, it started with an idea, started with capturing my vision with freelance models and hearing the flashes of the camera, and seeing him direct, it made me realize this thing called Fashion is no joke and without them two Divine Souls Management would not be where it is today.

Q:What did you want to do for a living at a younger age? What changed?

A:  I always wanted to take lead in the criminal justice field and change what was going on within the urban communities. Always felt that the presence and energy I give off could shift the scene. What changed for me; I would say, sophomore year of college attending the University of Rhode Island, I was heavily into the creative world and was starting to study what was being accepted and denied - that being said I started to notice opportunities in the modeling industry was not as equal as it portrays so instead of making that change within the criminal justice field, I wanted to make change within the modeling world.

Q: What is Divine Souls?

A: DSM is a new innovative model management agency, offering a promising career in model development and training. Divine Souls has been changing the industry’s overall outlook on fashion and proudly embraces the inner and outer natural beauty of both men and women. Divine Souls continues to be at the forefront of the fashion industry by establishing the careers of our talent on a holistic level.

Q: How long did it take to get to where you are today?

A: It may seem surreal but it has taken me a year and four months to get where I am today; and the milestones that have been completed has been super challenging but amazing.

Q: What are three goals you have set for yourself and your career? What is their significance?

A: Self - Always to remain HAPPY do not let heavy load dictate your happiness and direct you off track. Also make sure who is working with me also is to remain happy and to never be content because the industry will always keep you on your toes. To constant remain sane and to be original and remember originality is what brought you to this point so never change up. To make sure I invest in myself and evolve my ways of being self reliant and optimistic. Career/Company- Electrify productivity with DSM, raising the level of productivity can directly impact us in greater ways. By eliminating distractions within workspace and regular day to day would increase productivity and enhance the way we do business. I want to one day be the top agency in the country Increase the company’s network strength, sustaining Proper B2B relationships and while doing that expressing gratitude. I want my models working for big brands and to see my models up on Times Square and in storefronts Most importantly is leadership and values; building a strong foundation that suits the company so not only is it trendy but also known for its longevity. I would love for entrepreneur-like minds to intern for me one day and be inspired by not just my body of work but who I am as a person

Q: If you could work anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A: Five Headquarters NEW YORK LOS ANGELES LONDON MIAMI TORONTO

Q: What are something you struggle with on the way?

A:Finding who I am and where I fit, is definitely something I struggled with. Hiding behind a mask was very easy for me, it became methodical. Definitely ashamed to show my artsy and expressive side because where I am from it is considered ominous plus having a religious father did not help either. When tapping into my potential I realized, why should I care about what others perceive me as when that resides outside of me; that is out of my control. I needed to get comfortable with what I believe and what I am doing and live life with a purpose.

Q: What is your end goal to your business?

A: To be the Top three modeling agencies in the world and to not only implement models but actors/actresses and entertainers. Gaining access to also be international and shift the modeling world and entertainment business. DSM will bring in jobs for local creatives that have undeniable talent all over the world. The young adults around my age I see are truly lost and don’t have any support system such as myself and seeing that, I could never turn the other cheek, I understand education is key but helping young adults that are masters at fashion design, photography, creative direction, styling, blogging, etc; I feel assisting them to achieve their goals would be a huge deal in the creative communities. It would be truly beautiful to see create hands on courses for creatives and get approved to work for the DSM that way they can unfold their dreams and aspirations.
