Inside the Eye of DarkSight

What's good, Dark Sight here. I'm from Manchester, NH but moved to LA a little over a year ago. I've been doing "camera work" for about six years now, the first three solely photos, and since 2019 I've been shooting and editing music videos.

Q: What kind of films do you like to direct and what got you interested in doing this?

As of right now I enjoy shooting music videos. I am slowly moving into other styles of work, but music videos is what started this journey. I first got interested when I was living in Chicago 2017-2018 when Lyrical Lemonade was reallyyyyyy taking off. I saw what Cole Bennett and his team were doing in the city and it made me intrigued to say the least.

Q: What did you see yourself doing at a young age, what do you think made that change, if it did?

Growing up I never really had a "dream job," I had always told people I was going to be a businessman, but had no clue in what way. I went through of a few pretty impactful stages which were scootering and then reselling sneakers. I was always the kid with the "good deals" on scooter parts and those years lead me into the sneaker market and making profit in that field. After that, long story short, a camera was bought and the rest is history.

Q: Who, would you say, is the best person you have worked with, why?

Hmmm. That is a tough one. There are a few people specifically that I enjoyed working with the most. Either because they opened up a new level of creativity and trust, or simply the "exposure" it got my work. Shisko was probably the first artist to truly believe in ANYTHING I wanted to do for a video, and his music was extremely refreshing compared to stuff I had shot previously. I also really enjoyed the process of shooting those handful of videos with Jae lynx, those definitely helped boost everything for me. My brother Sip, he really changed a lot for me and my mindset, and aided a lot of growth by getting me in "those rooms" with some extremely influential people.

Q: Where was the coolest city you have filmed in, or even if it is Los Angeles, and why?

Miami is always super fun to shoot in. Unlimited locations and vibessssss

Q: Do you have a favorite transition, within your videos?

Not necessarily a favorite "transition," but I like to incorporate fire and space elements often in my videos.

Q: What would you say is your trademark, within your videos?

I would like to say a consistent color scheme within each video. 90% of my videos have a cohesive color palette. I would also say incorporating multimedia aspects such as paper, vhs, or even real life objects instead of everything being digitally made is a consistent theme. And of course, can not forget the "DS" logo in the corner.

Q: Have you ever worked on videos, outside of music? If so what? If you have not would you? Why or why not?

Definitely. I have done a few projects with clothing brands a while back. I am currently experiencing with some more journalistic style of videos for artists I work with. Expect docu-style stuff coming soon.

Q: If you could work with anybody, who would it be and why?

If I ever shoot with MGK, Post Malone, or Kanye West I would probably confidently say I am satisfied. I feel like the music and presentation of each artist I noted would mesh so perfectly with my style and direction.

Q: Who has surprised you by inquiring about making a video?

There is been a few. In the last question I answered "Post Malone," and it is ironic Tyla Yaweh and I have been talking about a video for a couple months. There is definitely a few more that I have spoken with but at the moment no one I am super eager to work with that I have not AT LEAST talked to.

Q: What is your favorite video editor to use? Why? Do you have a least favorite?

Premiere all dayyyyy. Least favorite would be anything not Adobe.
