Exclusive Interview with Artist and Musician ¡DopeBoy! Tha Realest
Raised in Parkchester, NY, Hasson Harris Sr. aka ¡DopeBoy! Tha Realest has made a name for himself as the Bronx Bomber. At the age of nine, he became amazed with ‘Hip Hop’ and found his way.
In the beginning years, mastering the freestyle rap and rapping over celebrities' beats gave him a bit of a segway in his growth.
As his introduction to the music industry continues, he has expanded his catalog & continues to solidify himself as an independent artist.
Q: What made you call yourself the realest rapper alive?
iNoticed that iWould rather write verses and songs about what was the most relevant but captivating things in my life. As iContinued, iGot more comfortable with being controversial and “Real” at tha same time.
Q: What are three things you want fans to know about your latest EP, “Dizzy State of Mind-2”?
This Second iteration was supposed to be the bridge between where iWas in my intro into the music industry to where I am most comfortable and thriving in tha best aspect as well. Also this was a step towards me expanding & solidifying my sound as an independent artist. Lastly, iWanted to showcase my progress. I have been working on my craft since a adolescent and iWanted to have that “paper trail” that shows how I am elevating.
Q: Why is it important to you to drop EP’s?
It is important, to me, because it is a testament to my growth and work ethic.
Q: What is Renegade Records and what is your affiliation with them?
Unstoppable Renegade Records is an Independent Label that is run by the CEO/My manager (Bigg HollaDay). I am an artist on said label.
Q: Do you like being an independent artist? Why or why not?
Of course, my freedom to make whatever, whenever and however it is tha best feeling. Although it can be overwhelming it is all a part of tha grind & iLike a little hard work.
Would you like to be featured?
Q: How would you describe your music, to people who have not listened in?
It is a culmination of the 90’s & 2000’s era. I am a product of that era so iFeel like my style ranges from old-school boom bap to new school drill rap.
Q: Is there anything you have been working on, that excites you? If so can you tell us a little bit about it?
Yes!!! I am currently working on the rollout for my Debut album. As much as iWanna blab about it; there is still some things that need to be finalized & revised. So the most iCould say on that is, this album is a testament of my life since 2017.
Q: Do you think social media is important? Why or why not?
For tha work, Yes. For personal use, Ehhh. Yes, because it is dope to see creativity outside of your own. No, because it has been diminished in the way that it is being used to flaunt negative narratives.
Q: Do you have any music videos planned, for any of your songs?
Yes. That goes back to tha album & its rollout. Hence, you gotta wait for it.
Q: What do you like and dislike about being an artist from New York?
iLove that New York Spawns talent. In every instance, we are what we put out & that is always gonna be GREATNESS
