Kodak Black- “2’CY'“

Kodak Black is on a different level with his latest music video release of "2'CY." The video features a little boy who enters a haunted house, curious about what is inside. As the rain chimes in the background and the duration of thunder becomes elongated, the video becomes a haunted cinematic journey through the lyrics of drug use. While the little boy wanders through the house, Yak is captured outside surrounded by bushes and webs as "Taking a bump of this tootsie" echoes. While Yak raps about his trip on Tootsie, he explores the attraction of a female that is "cute in the face, but, you ain't nothin' to cuff." While the reference to female attraction is heard throughout the lyrics, the video captures glimpses of a female in a room crying, wearing all black. Within the video, other scenes are caught in various rooms of the house as others are seen dancing in the shadows of the frame. When Kodak raps, "I'm not tryna take it there/It's a nightmare, very scary/Better protect your mediser" the story within the video switches from haunting to grimey when a body on the floor is filmed as a rat eats the organs coming out of the stomach.

While visually odd, Kodak aligns his lyrics to the storytelling production perfectly. The allure of substance abuse is almost a daunting experience in the realm of tripping on a drug and seeing the haunting nature of life. While the artist raps about materialism and understands his sense of success, his journey through fame has a fortune of substance that is role-played not just lyrically but oddly visually. The beat is solid, with a touch of Jersey Club music to enhance the flow while making the track easy to dance along to. As the video showcases many creepy scenes, viewers become attracted to an unexpected vibe from Kodak as he continues to solidify his legacy in the industry.
