Meet artist group Decofam
Q: Where did your inspiration come from for your new single YBMB?
A: So our new single ybmb is for everybody. Really inspired by the things we were seeing happening in the night scene in CALI AND BOSTON.
Q: Why did you leave puma?
A: Puma was amazing, we actually still have projects dropping til this day. The people there are amazing. We had been working there for a while and new opportunities were being presented to us from other brands. We decided to go with ANTA cause they believed in our deco fam squad and wanted the full package, and for us that was important, we’ve been together since high school and who says no to California. 😄😄😄
Q: What are you most excited about with your latest project?
A: MORE FAM. Is going to have some great surprises when it comes to features, marketing, vibes. Completely different from the last project CHINATOWN. SUPR SPORT AND ICEDOUTCHARM killed it with the production and our main sound engineer ARCITYPE slayed the songs.
Q: What is something you want to public to know about what you are working on now?
A: Currently we are working on releasing this ep and the new projects we have coming out for Anta.
Q: If you could open up for any artist, at a live show, who would it be for and why?
A: I would open for the big homies Migos. Currently they have the ear of the culture and they do a great job connecting to everybody.
Q: What is something that you struggle with?
A: One of our biggest struggles is juggling music and design but it’s such an important part of who we are and what makes up deco fam. But I think it’s been more of goal then a struggle, just getting it right.
Q: What is your favorite piece of advice that you have been given?
A: Stay humble. We’re Haitian and many of the fam come from Caribbean backgrounds and hard struggles so however far we get we just need to remember where we come from at all times. Don’t let the lights fool you. -K
Q: What is your favorite place that you have traveled to?
A: Best place ever traveled to lately is Vietnam. The food, the people, the weather is amazing. We used to travel there with puma for development trips but it really felt like vacation cause we enjoyed what we do especially in sunny Vietnam when it was 0 degrees in Boston where the puma USDC headquarters is located
Q: What do you like the most about music?
A: Music has helped us meet many people especially since we travel a lot going from city to city. The hip hop community always provides a home. Secondly it’s an opportunity to express yourself other than designing.
Q: Where did your stage name come from?
A: Deco fam. Deco= Art Deco/Miami/design/movement. Fam= community, backgrounds, real ppl. Group.
